Is a BYDFi event Bonus the same as USDT in your futures wallet? No. What Bonus, Position Airdrop and Fee Vouchers each pay for, with BYDFi's own deduction math

Most people treat a BYDFi event reward like free USDT sitting in the futures wallet. It isn't. BYDFi pays event in at least three different forms, and each one follows its own rules on what it can pay for, what you can withdraw, and what makes it disappear.

The attached image comes from BYDFi's own help article on Futures Bonus, position airdrop and voucher usage (updated Sep 15, 2026). It shows three app screens: the Home screen with the Order History icon boxed, a BTCUSDT Perpetual position (isolated, 10x, size 6 Cont, margin 4.6817 USDT, average price 77,562.3, Fair Price 76,939.9, liquidation price 69,995.4, unrealized PNL -0.3734, realized PNL -0.1240), and the Futures Orders > Capital Flow tab with the filter sheet open and Bonus selected. The same sheet lists Fee, Funding Fee, Liquidation Clearance, PNL of closing, Event Futures, ADL, Transfer and Voucher. Those are BYDFi's capture values, not live prices. The Home screen's watchlist also shows BTC, ETH, DOT and SOL spot pairs.

Capital Flow with the Bonus filter is where you check what a bonus actually paid for. Here is what each reward type does.

Futures Bonus

Per BYDFi's Sep 15 usage page:

  • Usable only on USDT-M futures (regular, copy and grid trading). Not on USDC-M or Coin-M.
  • It is spent first on trading fees, funding fees and realized losses. If you hold both USDT and bonus, your USDT is used as margin first, so the bonus isn't quietly eaten out of your margin.
  • Profits made with it can be withdrawn. The bonus itself cannot.
  • Withdraw anything from the futures wallet before the bonus is used up and the whole remaining bonus is forfeited.
  • Fees paid with bonus earn no commission rebates.
  • Unused bonus is revoked when it expires.

BYDFi's own example, worked through:

  • Bonus 5 USDT. You close with a 2.5 USDT loss plus a 0.03 USDT closing fee. Capital Flow shows one bonus deduction of 2.53 USDT, and 5 - 2.53 = 2.47 USDT of bonus is left.
  • Bonus 2 USDT, same trade. The deduction shows as 2 USDT, the most the bonus can cover. The other 2.53 - 2 = 0.53 USDT is not paid by the bonus.

One caution: BYDFi's older How to Use Bonus page (Aug 2026) describes a stricter version. It says a bonus covers at most 50% of margin and 50% of fees, works only in One-Way Mode, can't open a position without real cash beside it, caps leverage at 5x across all contracts while the wallet total is under 100 USDT, and can trigger order cancels or a forced close if it expires while your transferable balance is too low. The two pages don't fully agree, so read the terms attached to your specific bonus before you trade it.

Position Airdrop

  • You receive an already-open position. Leverage, size, pair and usually direction are set by BYDFi, often at random, and the email tells you the details.
  • You can add to it, set TP/SL or close it.
  • If you add no margin of your own, the most you can lose is the airdropped funds. Your other assets are not touched.
  • Profit after closing is withdrawable. Whatever margin is left is revoked.

Fee Voucher

  • Pays futures trading fees only. Not margin, not withdrawable, reclaimed when expired.
  • Applied automatically and used before anything else for fees.
  • It has to cover the whole fee or it isn't used at all. Example with made-up numbers: a 0.50 USDT voucher against a 0.62 USDT fee does nothing, and you pay the full 0.62. The same voucher against a 0.40 USDT fee covers it in full.

How the prize pools on trading events work

Most BYDFi futures competitions use a dynamic pool. In the Green Pitch Finals event (Jul 5-20, 2026, already ended) the pool unlocked in steps by total USDT-M volume:

  • 40M volume: 6,000 USDT
  • 80M: 12,000
  • 160M: 24,000
  • 240M: 36,000
  • 320M: 48,000
  • 400M: 60,000

So every step paid 6,000 / 40,000,000 = 0.015% of total volume, shared by the top 200 ranked traders. You needed at least 1,000 USDT of your own volume to be paid, had to click Join Now and finish KYC before the end, and zero-fee pairs, copy trading and futures grid volume didn't count. A March hot-pairs event counted only listed pairs such as TAOUSDT, HYPEUSDT and FETUSDT, and its leaderboard pool would have been canceled entirely if total volume stayed under 5M. from these events were paid as Bonus, which brings you back to the rules above.

Before you trade a reward

  • Open Capital Flow, filter Bonus or Voucher, and note the starting balance.
  • Don't move funds out of the futures wallet while bonus is left, unless you're fine losing it.
  • Check whether your event needs KYC, a minimum volume, or specific pairs.
  • Treat the bonus as a fee and loss buffer, not as extra buying power on BTC, ETH or SOL.
