A wick through the neckline is not a double top.

Bitunix Academy's M-top rules, with the BTC and ETH levels they used

Plenty of "double top" shorts get squeezed because the pattern was never actually confirmed. Bitunix Academy's new M-top guide is strict about what counts, and it lays out entry, stop and targets in a way you can check against your own chart.

The image is Bitunix's own art for the guide, a big silver 3D letter M next to a few green and white candles on navy. It's illustration only, no chart data.

What has to be there

  • A left peak, a pullback that forms the neckline, then a right peak that fails to push higher
  • Lighter volume on the right peak than the left, which shows buyers losing interest
  • A candle that closes below the neckline. A wick poking through doesn't count
  • Volume picking up on the break, and a MACD bearish cross if you want extra confirmation

The setup is dead if price makes a decisive new high above the left peak.

Use three timeframes

The guide reads structure on the Daily, looks for the neckline weakening on the 4H, and times the actual entry on the 15m.

Entry, stop, targets

Rather than chasing the breakdown candle, wait for price to come back up and retest the neckline from below as resistance. The stop goes above the peaks. For targets, measure the height from peak to neckline and project it down from the neckline: close about half at that first target and leave the rest for twice the projection. The guide keeps the short open while price stays under the Daily EMA30 and EMA120.

Their two examples

  • BTC: tops around 82,800, neckline at 79,000, stop on a close back above 82,800. That's a 3,800 height, so the first projection sits near 75,200
  • ETH: tops at 3,403.44, neckline at 3,260, which broke on the second test, stop above 3,403.44

When to skip it

Higher timeframes carry more weight than a 5-minute M. Patterns that form too fast, too narrow or in choppy ranges are unreliable. And the guide is clear you shouldn't short a strong uptrend just because two highs line up.

The W-bottom is the same logic flipped for longs: two lows, a neckline above, and a close through it.
