Bitunix SOLUSDT perp opens at 10x by default. Here is how to set up a first trade on purpose

[Trading setup] Default leverage on Bitunix's SOLUSDT perpetual is 10x, per the exchange's public trading-pair data. The maximum is 100x and the minimum is 1x. A lot of first trades go out at whatever the box already says, so here is a setup routine that starts from the numbers instead.
The image shows the live Bitunix SOLUSDT perpetual trading page this afternoon: price header, chart and order book.
What is set before you touch size
Margin mode: isolated ring-fences the margin for this one position; cross shares your whole futures balance across positions. Leverage: change it from the default only after you know your stop distance. Both live at the top of the order panel.
Sizing on this contract
Bitunix quotes SOLUSDT size in SOL. The minimum order is 0.1 SOL. A single market order can be up to 10,000 SOL; a limit order up to 1,000,000 SOL.
Worked example, API numbers at about 4:16 PM ET (mark 100.44, index 100.48)
- Size: 10 SOL x 100.44 = 1,004.40 USDT notional
- At the default 10x: margin = 100.44 USDT
- 24h range: 99.84 to 102.71, a 2.87 move, about 2.9% of price
- At 10x, that one-day range equals about 29% of the margin. At 20x it would be about 57%.
- Funding was +0.01% per 8h: about 0.10 USDT per settlement on this position, paid by longs
Exits come with the order
Add TP and SL in the same ticket. If the stop sits outside the normal daily range and you still want to risk only a fixed amount, shrink the size rather than raising leverage.
Sizing from the stop
Flip the order. Risk budget first, say 10 USDT for this example. Long at the 100.44 mark, with the stop just under the 24h low of 99.84, at 99.60.
- Stop distance: 100.44 - 99.60 = 0.84, about 0.84% of price
- Size: 10 / 0.84 = about 11.9 SOL (the minimum step is 0.1 SOL)
- Actual risk: 11.9 x 0.84 = about 10.00 USDT (9.996 exactly)
- Notional: 11.9 x 100.44 = about 1,195.24 USDT
- Margin at 10x: about 119.52 USDT; at 20x: about 59.76 USDT
Notice that raising leverage from 10x to 20x did not change the 10 USDT risk at all. It only halved the margin you post, and moved the liquidation price closer to your stop.
How the range compares at other settings
The 2.87 point range is about 2.9% of price, so as a share of margin it is roughly 14% at 5x, 29% at 10x, 57% at 20x and about 143% at 50x. Once that figure passes 100%, a full-range move would exhaust the margin on its own. That is the quickest check for whether a leverage setting fits the volatility on the page.
Limits worth knowing
The market-order cap of 10,000 SOL is about 1,004,400 USDT of notional at the 100.44 mark. The limit cap is 1,000,000 SOL. The minimum, 0.1 SOL, is about 10.04 USDT of notional, handy for testing the order flow with a tiny size.
Common mistakes
- Leaving leverage at the default because the box looks pre-filled.
- Choosing the stop after the size.
- Switching from isolated to cross mid-trade without understanding the extra balance now at risk.
- Using the same leverage across SOL, ETH, BTC and DOGE without reading each contract.
Quick FAQ Q: Is 10x the right number? A: It is a starting point, not an answer. The right number comes from your stop distance. Q: Does isolated limit losses to margin? A: It ring-fences the margin assigned to that position; cross shares the whole futures balance.
The same routine works on the BTC, ETH, XRP and DOGE perps, but each has its own minimum size and leverage ceiling, so check the contract before you copy a setup across.
Before your next SOL trade: what stop distance are you using, and does your leverage leave room for it?
