What a $10,000 trade actually costs on Bitunix at VIP 0, and when the VIP ladder starts to matter

Official Bitunix blog art for its fees guide: a tablet showing a BTC/USDT chart on a stone block, ringed by tags reading 0.08%, 0.1%, 0.02% and 0.06%.

0.02% sounds like nothing until you count how many times you pay it. Bitunix's fees guide puts real dollar amounts on spot and futures orders, and the useful part is seeing how fast it adds up for anyone who trades often.

The image is the official art from that Bitunix guide: a tablet with a BTC/USDT chart, surrounded by tags showing 0.08%, 0.1%, 0.02% and 0.06%, which are the standard VIP 0 rates.

VIP 0, on a $10,000 order

Spot (maker / taker 0.08% / 0.10%):

  • maker: $8.00
  • taker: $10.00

Futures (maker / taker 0.02% / 0.06%):

  • maker: $2.00
  • taker: $6.00

Fee = order value x rate. Maker means your order rested on the book and added liquidity. Taker means it matched immediately, which is what market orders do.

Futures fees come twice

You pay to open and again to close. My own math on the guide's rates: a $10,000 futures position opened and closed with market orders is 2 x 0.06% = $12 in fees. Both sides as resting limit orders: 2 x 0.02% = $4. Same position, same price move, three times the fee bill. Funding is on top of that if you hold through funding times.

The VIP ladder

Tiers are based on any ONE of these: 30-day spot volume, 30-day futures volume, or account balance. A few rungs:

  • VIP 1: 100,000 USDT spot volume, or 1,000,000 futures, or 1,000 balance. Futures taker drops to 0.05%.
  • VIP 3: 800,000 spot, 8,000,000 futures, or 50,000 balance. Futures 0.014% / 0.04%.
  • VIP 7: futures 0.006% / 0.03%.
  • VIP 8: spot maker 0.0048%, futures maker 0%.

At VIP 3 that same $10,000 market-in, market-out round trip is about $8 instead of $12. For someone who trades a few times a month it barely matters. For someone doing dozens of round trips a week, it's real money.

Costs that aren't on the fee table

  • Spread: the gap between bid and ask is a cost on every market order.
  • Funding on perps, paid or received while you hold.
  • Withdrawals: Bitunix charges by asset and network. Crypto deposits have no Bitunix fee, but the sending wallet or network may charge.

One habit

Check your last 30 days of volume against the next tier before you assume the fee table doesn't apply to you. And if you aren't in a hurry, a limit order is usually the cheaper way in and out.
