Why the 300x slider on MEXC DOGE perps is the wrong place to start a trade setup

MEXC logo, for the post: Why the 300x slider on MEXC DOGE perps is the wrong place to start a trade setup

[Trading setup] MEXC's DOGE_USDT perpetual lists a maximum of 300x leverage, a contract size of 100 DOGE and a minimum of 1 contract, per its public contract data. Here are the setup myths those numbers clear up.

The image is the live MEXC DOGEUSDT perpetual page this afternoon: price header, chart and order book.

Myth: the slider maximum is a sensible default. Fact: at 300x the initial margin rate is about 0.33% and the maintenance margin rate is 0.23%. The gap between them is roughly 0.1% of price. DOGE's 24h range was 0.07593 to 0.07820, about 2.9%. At 300x, a move a fraction of one normal day can close the position.

Myth: size means DOGE. Fact: size is in contracts, and 1 contract = 100 DOGE. At last 0.07729 (about 4:16 PM ET), 1 contract is about 7.73 USDT notional.

Myth: order type is just about speed. Fact: it is also about fees. The contract data shows 0% maker and 0.02% taker on DOGE_USDT.

Worked example

  • Target: about 1,000 USDT of DOGE
  • 129 contracts x 100 DOGE x 0.07729 = 997.04 USDT notional
  • Margin at 20x: about 49.85 USDT
  • Market entry fee: 997.04 x 0.0002 = about 0.20 USDT; maker fill: 0
  • Funding at +0.0091% per 8h: about 0.09 USDT per settlement, paid by longs
  • Rough liquidation distance at 20x: about 5% minus the 0.23% maintenance rate, so a bit under 4.8% from entry before fees

Myth: margin mode can wait. Fact: choose isolated or cross first. Isolated limits the loss to this position's margin; cross puts the rest of your futures balance behind it.

Liquidation is checked against the fair price (0.07729 at the snapshot, index 0.07732), not the last trade.

The same habit applies to the BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP perps: read contract size, margin rates and fees before you move the slider.

Quick FAQ Q: Can I add TP/SL when opening? A: Yes, set them in the order panel before submitting so the exit exists from the first second. Q: Does 300x mean more profit? A: It means less margin for the same size, and a much closer liquidation price.
