Key takeaway

MEXC launched NEESTOCK_USDT at 9:00 AM ET today, a USDT-margined perp on NextEra Energy in its Stock and TradFi zones. It's been one of the steadier charts of the new stock listings.

How the session built

After a sweep to 83.30 at 9:15, NEE spent the first hour in a tight 83.58 to 83.95 box. The 10:45 candle broke out of the box. From there it made a higher low and a higher high almost every hour: 84.75 by 11:30, 85.07 at 1:00 PM and 85.49 at 2:30 PM. The only real dip of the afternoon, to 85.09 at 3:15 PM, was bought straight back to 85.46.

Long or short?

Long above 85.09, the afternoon dip low. A 15m close below 85.00 invalidates. The trend is clean, open interest has grown to roughly 41K USDT, and funding is flat, so longs aren't paying much to hold.

The bear case is that a 2.3% day is a big move for a utility. If the cash close at 4 PM brings profit-taking, 84.75 is the first level where buyers stepped in earlier. I wouldn't short it until it loses 85.00 on a closing basis.

Risks

  • A low-volatility stock with leverage means fakeouts do the damage, not the trend.
  • The stock market closes at 4 PM ET. After that, the perp trades on its own and reprices at the next open.
  • Funding settles every 4 hours here, not every 8, so carry adds up faster if it turns.

Does a utility perp belong in a crypto account, or is NEE just a sideshow next to the volatile names?
