Myth vs fact for beginners: 5 things people get wrong about Limit, Market and Trigger orders on KCEX SOL perps

The most common first-week mistake on a perp is not the leverage. It is clicking Market by habit and never looking at what the other tabs do. Here are five myths, checked against KCEX's own order-type guide and the SOL_USDT contract data pulled this morning.

The image is the live KCEX SOLUSDT perpetual page: price header, 15m chart, order book, and the order panel on the Limit tab with the Market and Trigger tabs, the TP/SL box and the fee line reading Maker 0% / Taker 0.01%.

Contract facts (KCEX public API, this morning): 1 contract = 0.01 SOL, minimum 1 contract, price tick 0.01, max leverage 75x, maker fee 0, taker fee 0.01%. Last 100.09, fair price 100.09, index 100.14, 24h range 99.10 to 102.70.

Myth 1: "A limit order is just a slower market order." Fact: a limit order sets the worst price you will accept. If matching orders already exist at that price or better, it fills at once at the best available price. If not, it rests in the book and adds depth.

Myth 2: "Market orders fill at the price on screen." Fact: KCEX's guide says a market order does not guarantee the execution price. That is why KCEX added a slippage setting for market orders: you set the percentage you will accept before sending.

Myth 3: "The fee difference is too small to matter." Fact, worked on 10 SOL (1,000 contracts) at 100.09:

  • Notional: 10 x 100.09 = 1,000.90 USDT
  • Market entry at 0.01% taker: about 0.10 USDT
  • Limit entry that rests and fills as maker: 0 USDT
  • Market in and out: about 0.20 USDT; maker both ways: 0

Small per trade, but it is the whole fee line, and it repeats on every trade.

Myth 4: "A trigger order is a stop loss." Fact: a trigger order is any order that waits for a trigger price and then places a Market or Limit order. You can use it to enter, to take profit or to stop out. TP/SL is the version attached to a position.

Myth 5: "Post only is for professionals." Fact: post only simply means the order is cancelled if it would match immediately, so it only ever enters the book as a maker. On a pair with a 0% maker rate that is the whole point. Where it does not belong is an urgent exit.

Before you click Open Long or Open Short:

  • Which tab am I on, and is that on purpose?
  • If Limit: is my buy price below the current price, or will it fill instantly?
  • If Market: is the slippage setting where I want it?
  • If Trigger: what order does it send when it fires, Market or Limit?
  • Same checklist works on the BTC, ETH, XRP and DOGE contracts.
