[Trading setup] Q&A format this time, built from KCEX's own contract data for BTC_USDT.

The image is the live KCEX BTCUSDT perpetual page from this afternoon, showing the price header, chart and order book.

Q: What is one contract? A: 0.0001 BTC. The minimum order is 1 contract. So 0.1 BTC = 1,000 contracts.

Q: How much leverage can I use? A: Up to 125x on the first risk tier. The initial margin rate there is 0.8% and the maintenance margin rate is 0.5%.

Q: Does position size change the limits? A: Yes. The first tier covers 37,095 contracts, which is 3.7095 BTC. Each step above that adds 0.25% to maintenance margin and 0.4% to initial margin, so tier two is 0.75% maintenance and 1.2% initial, which caps leverage at about 83x. Most first trades never leave tier one, but it is worth knowing the ceiling moves.

Q: Limit or market? A: The contract data lists a maker fee of 0% and a taker fee of 0.01% on BTC_USDT. Worked example at last 79,921.8 (about 4:16 PM ET): 1,000 contracts = 7,992.18 USDT notional. A market entry costs 7,992.18 x 0.0001 = about 0.80 USDT; a resting limit that fills as maker costs 0. Round trip as taker is about 1.60 USDT.

Q: Isolated or cross? A: Isolated caps the loss on this position to the margin assigned to it. Cross uses your full futures balance as backing. Pick it before you size the trade, because it decides what is at risk.

Q: Which price triggers liquidation? A: The fair (mark) price, not the last trade. At the snapshot both read 79,921.8 with the index at 79,947.4, so they were nearly identical, but on fast candles they can split.

Q: What does a small order look like in numbers? A: Take 500 contracts, which is 0.05 BTC. At 79,921.8 that is 3,996.09 USDT notional. Margin at 20x is about 199.80 USDT; at the 125x ceiling it would be about 31.97 USDT. A taker entry fee is 3,996.09 x 0.0001 = about 0.40 USDT, so a taker round trip is about 0.80 USDT. The minimum order, 1 contract, is 0.0001 BTC, about 7.99 USDT.

Q: How big is tier one in dollars? A: 3.7095 BTC at 79,921.8 is about 296,469.92 USDT of notional. Beyond that you move into tier two, where the initial margin is 1.2% and the maintenance 0.75%.

Q: How much room is there at the top leverage? A: At 125x the initial margin rate is 0.8% and the maintenance rate is 0.5%, so the cushion between them is about 0.3% of notional. On the 500 contract position that is roughly 11.99 USDT. In tier two, with 1.2% and 0.75%, the cushion is about 0.45%. Small cushions mean small mistakes get liquidated.

Q: How does the day's range fit in? A: The 24h range was 79,327.2 to 80,819.4, which is 1,492.2 points or about 1.88% of the low. A leverage whose rough buffer (1 divided by leverage) is smaller than that, such as 100x at 1%, sits inside an ordinary day of movement.

Q: What is the most common first-trade error? A: Choosing leverage before knowing the stop distance. Decide where the idea is wrong, then pick the leverage that leaves liquidation well past it.

Q: What about TP and SL? A: Attach them on the order so the exit exists from the first second, and make sure the stop sits well before the liquidation price.

Q: How do I sanity check the order before submitting? A: Read four things in the ticket: the contract count, the notional it implies, the margin it will lock, and the liquidation price shown. If any of the four surprises you, stop and recheck the contract size, because 1,000 contracts is only 0.1 BTC and 10,000 is a full 1 BTC.

Q: Does a 0% maker fee mean limit orders are always better? A: Not always. A limit order that never fills costs nothing, but it also gives you no position, and chasing it with a market order afterwards pays the taker fee anyway. Use a limit when you are happy to wait for the price.

Same questions apply to ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE contracts; only the numbers change.

Takeaway: answer the contract size, tier and fee questions first, and the leverage and TP/SL choices get much easier.
