Your KCEX stop-loss can fail to trigger. Here is the AVAX TP/SL setup that plans for it (intermediate guide)
Key takeaway
[Intermediate - TP/SL - AVAX perp] Most TP/SL guides stop at "set it and walk away". KCEX's own order-type guide adds a line worth reading twice: market volatility, insufficient funds and position limits can stop a trigger order or TP/SL order from triggering, and you get an email or app notice whether it triggers or fails.

So the stop is a tool, not a guarantee. Build the trade so a delay does not wreck the account.
What KCEX TP/SL actually does
You can set TP/SL on the opening order, where it switches on once the order fills, or add it to a position that is already open from the position's TP/SL section. When the trigger price is hit, the system places a market order to close. KCEX notes the fill can land well away from the trigger in a fast market.
The AVAX numbers, KCEX public data at 9:54 AM ET

The screenshot is the live KCEX AVAX/USDT perp page at 9:57 AM ET: 8.555, down 2.42%, index 8.561, mark 8.558, funding +0.0100% with 01:02:06 left, 24h high 8.811 and low 8.527, a 15m chart, the order book, and the order panel on Isolated 20X with Limit, Market and Trigger tabs, the TP/SL tick box, and Maker 0% / Taker 0.01%.
Worked example (illustration, not advice): account 800 USDT, risk 1% (8 USDT), long at 8.573, stop 8.500 below the 24h low, target 8.719.
- Stop distance: 8.573 - 8.500 = 0.073 per AVAX, about 0.85%.
- Fees at 0.01% in and out: 0.0001 x 8.573 + 0.0001 x 8.500 = 0.0017 per AVAX. Small, but count it.
- Risk per AVAX: 0.0747. Size: 8 / 0.0747 = 107 AVAX, which is 1,070 contracts and about 917.31 USDT of value.
- Loss at the stop: about 7.99 USDT. Gain at the 8.719 target (2R): about 15.44 USDT net, close to 1.93R because the fee drag is tiny here.
Leave room for the stop to work
At 20x, initial margin is 5% of value, about 45.87 USDT. Subtract the 0.67% maintenance rate and there is roughly 4.3% of price room before liquidation, five times the 0.85% stop. If the stop fills late, there is still space. At 75x, initial margin is 1.33%, and after maintenance only about 0.66% is left, which is closer than the stop itself. That is the setup where a late stop turns into a liquidation.
Also keep some free balance in the futures account. KCEX lists insufficient funds as one reason an order can fail to trigger.
Setting it up on KCEX
- In the order panel, enter the opening order, tick TP/SL, type the TP and SL prices, then Open Long.
- Or, for an open position, find its TP/SL section, click Add, set the prices and Confirm.
- Check the position row afterwards to confirm both legs show.
Common mistakes
- Running max leverage with a stop that sits beyond liquidation. The stop never gets its turn.
- Moving the stop further away once the trade goes against you. That breaks the 8 USDT budget.
- Ignoring the failure email. If a trigger fails, the position is unprotected until you act.
- Assuming the BTC, ETH, SOL or LINK contract size is 0.1 too. Check each pair's contract size before converting units.
Short FAQ
Why does my fill differ from the trigger? The close is a market order, and KCEX says the price can move a lot in volatile moments.
Can I set TP without SL? Yes, but a TP alone does nothing to cap the loss.
Is a 0.01% taker fee worth planning around? On this trade it is about 0.18 USDT round trip. It matters more as stops get tighter.
Turn on KCEX email and app notifications, and treat a "trigger failed" message as an order to act now.
