Networks and gas

DeFi networks and gas: the native coin pays the fee, the token moves on that chain

Each network is its own ledger. Ether on Ethereum is not the same balance as a bridged token on another chain. Gas is the fee the network charges, paid in that chain’s native coin.

Why a swap can fail and still cost money

You pay gas when the transaction is included, even if the swap reverts because the price moved or you set slippage too tight. The native coin has to be in the wallet before you start. A wallet full of a token and empty of the gas coin cannot send.

Use case: you withdraw from an exchange. The withdrawal form asks for a network. Pick the network your wallet is actually on. Withdrawing to the right address on the wrong network is a common way coins look “lost.”

Questions

Does LiquidityFlow pay gas?

No. Gas is paid from your wallet to the network. We do not broadcast transactions.
