Perpetual futures delisting: what happens to your open position
Short answer: When an exchange delists a perpetual pair, it first blocks new positions, then force-closes whatever is still open at the delisting time. BingX automatically closes remaining positions; MEXC closes them at its fair price and cancels open orders. Copy trades and grid bots on the pair stop too. Closing yourself before the cutoff keeps you in control of the price.

The usual timeline
- Announcement. The exchange publishes a notice naming the pairs and the delisting time.
- No-new-positions cutoff (on some venues). You can still close or reduce, but you can't open new positions.
- Delisting. Trading on the pair stops.
- Auto-close. Any position still open is closed by the exchange.
Not every notice includes every step, so read the notice for the pair you hold.
How BingX handles it

From BingX's notice "BingX Delists GPUSDT for Perpetual Futures" (published Oct 26, 2026):
- From Oct 28, 2026, 10:00 UTC users cannot open new GPUSDT positions. Closing existing positions is not affected.
- At Oct 28, 2026, 12:00 UTC the pair is delisted and all existing positions are automatically closed.
- The delisting covers BingX Futures, including Futures Copy Trading and Futures Grid. It does not affect BingX Spot.
- BingX describes the pair as "temporarily delisted" and says it reviews pairs that no longer meet its listing standard or after significant market changes.
- BingX recommends closing affected positions before the delisting.

How MEXC handles it

From MEXC's notice (Oct 20, 2026) delisting nine USDC-M perpetual pairs (GRAM, SPX, SEI, BCH, SHIB, POL, 1000BONK, ORDI and NOT) on Oct 23, 2026, 07:00 UTC:
- MEXC closes all positions at the fair price at the time of delisting.
- All open orders are cancelled upon delisting.
- The pairs are also removed from Demo Trading and Futures Grid Trading, where applicable. MEXC asks users to disable grid bots on affected pairs in time.
- MEXC encourages users to close open positions before the delisting.
MEXC explains how its fair price works in Index price, fair price and market trade price. It is the same fair-price concept used when a pre-market perpetual is cancelled. See also mark price and index price.
| Item | MEXC (USDC-M notice, Oct 20, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Settlement price | Fair price at the time of delisting |

How other big venues settle (third-party rules)
These are the published rules of venues that are not LiquidityFlow partners. Don't assume they apply to BingX or MEXC.
| Venue | Before delisting | Settlement price | Fee and funding | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | Reduce-only orders in the last 30 minutes | Average of the index every second over the last 30 minutes | Settlement fee equals the taker fee | Binance FAQ |
| OKX (LRCUSDT notice) | No reduce-only window stated; trading bots close gradually in the last hour | Arithmetic average of the OKX index over the last hour | No delivery fee; funding charged or paid at delisting | OKX notice |
| Gate | Not stated in the announcement | Average of the index over the last 30 minutes, over a longer period if prices swing sharply | Not stated in the announcement | Gate announcement |
| Aster | Reduce-only orders in the last 30 minutes | Average of the index every second over the last 60 minutes | Trading fees charged on automatic settlement | Aster docs |
Open orders, copy trading and grid bots
- Open orders: MEXC cancels them at delisting. BingX's notice does not mention open orders, so cancel them yourself rather than relying on the venue.
- Copy trading: BingX's notice covers Futures Copy Trading, so copied positions on the pair are affected too.
- Grid bots: both BingX (Futures Grid) and MEXC (Futures Grid Trading) remove the pair. MEXC asks users to disable affected bots.
Futures delisting vs spot delisting
A perpetual delisting is not the same as a spot delisting. BingX's GPUSDT notice states that Spot is not affected. Always check each notice, because some delistings cover both.
What to do before the cutoff
- Find the notice for your pair and note the cutoff and delisting times (usually given in UTC).
- Close or reduce the position yourself so you choose the exit price instead of the venue's settlement price. Reduce-only orders help here.
- Cancel open orders, including take-profit and stop-loss orders on the pair.
- Stop copy trades and grid bots on the pair.
- Watch liquidity. Order books can thin out ahead of a delisting, so large market orders may slip.
- Check funding. Until you close, normal funding payments still apply.
- Watch your margin. A position can still hit its liquidation price before the delisting time. See also auto-deleveraging and risk limits.
Questions
Will my position be liquidated or force-closed when a perp is delisted?
If it is still open at the delisting time, it is closed by the exchange. BingX says all existing positions are automatically closed at delisting; MEXC closes them at the fair price.
At what price is a delisted perpetual settled?
It depends on the venue. MEXC uses its fair price at the time of delisting. BingX's GPUSDT notice does not state the settlement price.
Do I pay a fee if the exchange auto-closes my position?
Neither the BingX GPUSDT notice nor the MEXC USDC-M notice states a settlement fee. Binance publishes a settlement fee equal to its taker fee; that is Binance's rule only.
What happens to my open orders, copy trades and grid bots?
MEXC cancels open orders and removes the pairs from Futures Grid and Demo Trading. BingX's notice covers Futures Copy Trading and Futures Grid as well.
Does a futures delisting mean the coin is delisted from spot too?
Not necessarily. BingX's GPUSDT notice says BingX Spot is not affected. Check each notice, because some delistings cover both.
Why do exchanges delist perpetual contracts?
BingX says it reviews pairs that no longer meet its listing standard or after significant market changes.
How do I find out about a delisting in time?
Follow each exchange's announcement pages, such as the BingX delisting notice center and MEXC announcements.
