Sent USDT or ETH on the wrong network to BYDFi? What BYDFi's own help pages say happens next

By Updated

Key takeaway

Picking the network is the one step in a crypto deposit where a tiny mistake can lock funds up for weeks. This post walks through what BYDFi's help center says about wrong-network deposits, what it costs to get funds back, and a routine that makes the mistake very hard to repeat.

Everything here comes from BYDFi's Deposit Not Credited troubleshooting guide, its Uncredited Deposit form guide, its deposit help page and its deposit address renewal notice, all read on Nov 4, 2026.

Why the network matters at all

Many coins live on more than one chain. USDT exists on ERC-20, TRC-20 and BEP-20, among others. An address on one chain can look valid on another, and the sending wallet will happily broadcast the transfer. The coins arrive on a chain where BYDFi's deposit system is not watching that address, so nothing is credited.

BYDFi's troubleshooting guide uses ETH as its own case: it lists ETH deposits as supported on the ETH, ARB, BSC and BASE networks. Copy the ETH-network address, but send on BEP-20 from the other platform, and the deposit will not credit.

The four mistakes BYDFi separates

  1. Wrong network, but a supported one: the deposit went to a valid BYDFi address on the wrong chain.
  2. Unsupported network: the chain is not one BYDFi supports for that coin.
  3. Missing or wrong memo or tag: coins like XRP and XLM need a memo or tag on top of the address.
  4. Old address: after BYDFi's recent system upgrade, deposit addresses for all supported coins were renewed, and BYDFi says previously saved addresses may no longer be valid.

What recovery looks like

For these cases, BYDFi asks you to submit an Uncredited Deposit Return Application as soon as possible. You will need:

  • the token and the correct deposit network
  • the TxID (transaction hash) from the sending platform
  • the deposit address you sent to
  • for memo problems, the correct memo or tag

From BYDFi's form guide:

  • Review typically takes 1 to 2 business days, with the result sent by email or in-site message.
  • A deposit with a missing or incorrect memo, an unsupported token, or an unsupported network carries a 20 USDT handling fee, with an estimated 21 days of processing.
  • For deposits sent to BYDFi's hot wallet or with a missing memo, funds can only be returned to the original sending address.
  • A supported token on a supported network that simply has not been credited yet is handled free, with an estimated 3 days.

BYDFi's general deposit page is also blunt that sending to the wrong address or network can mean funds are lost, and that it will help but cannot guarantee recovery.

A deposit routine that prevents all four

  1. On BYDFi, choose the coin, then the network, and only then copy the address. Never reuse a saved address.
  2. On the sending platform, choose the same network by name. If it is not in the list, stop.
  3. If BYDFi shows a memo or tag field, copy it too. No memo, no credit.
  4. For a first deposit on a new route, send a small test amount and wait for it to credit.
  5. Save the TxID. If anything goes wrong, it is the first thing support will ask for.
  6. Check Wallets, then Funding History, then Deposit, and click the TxID to see confirmations on the explorer.

Fees are the other trap

Cheaper networks are tempting. Use them only if BYDFi lists that network for that coin, and remember a 20 USDT handling fee wipes out years of saved gas on small transfers.

FAQ

Q: My deposit shows success on the explorer but not on BYDFi. A: Check the confirmation count first. Each coin needs a set number of confirmations before it credits.

Q: Can BYDFi send the funds to a different address? A: For hot wallet and memo cases, only the original sending address is supported.

Q: How fast should I file? A: BYDFi says as soon as possible.
