Bitbase fee math: VIP 0 futures 0.0200% / 0.0600%, round trip = notional x (entry + exit)

By Updated

Key takeaway

Bitbase USDT-M futures fees start at maker 0.0200% and taker 0.0600% at VIP 0. The round-trip trading cost is still the same shape as on other venues: notional times entry rate plus notional times exit rate. No sample size is invented below. Plug in the notional you actually trade.

Maker and taker are about how the fill happens. A maker order rests in the book and adds liquidity. A taker order matches at once and removes liquidity. That distinction sets which percent from the schedule applies on each fill. Opening and closing are itemized as separate fee lines on positions opened after the July 16, 2026 cutover.

Published base rates

  • Futures VIP 0 maker: 0.0200%
  • Futures VIP 0 taker: 0.0600%
  • Spot base rates: a separate schedule on the spot fee page (do not mix them into a futures estimate)
  • VIP 7 futures: 0.0050% / 0.0250% on the published ladder

VIP is one level for the whole account. Bitbase reads 30-day spot volume, 30-day futures volume, current balance, and 30-day average balance, then applies whichever measure places you highest.

Formulas

Opening fee = notional_open x fee_rate Closing fee = notional_close x fee_rate

Same-notional round trip:

  • Maker / maker: notional x 0.0400%
  • Taker / taker: notional x 0.1200%
  • Mixed: notional x 0.0800%

At VIP 0, taker / taker costs three times maker / maker on the trading-fee line alone.

Notional, not margin

Fees track notional. Leverage only changes how much margin supports that notional. Do not state a max leverage for Bitbase here: official pages set the ceiling per contract risk parameters, and a single headline number is not published as a platform-wide max.

Funding is separate

Funding moves between longs and shorts. It is not a VIP discount line. Per settlement:

funding = notional_at_settlement x funding_rate

Hold flat through the settlement and that line is zero for you that interval.

Worked path without a fake size

  1. Read your VIP row on the fee page.
  2. Decide whether the open will rest (maker) or cross (taker).
  3. Compute open fee = notional_open x that rate.
  4. Plan the close the same way.
  5. Add funding only for intervals you will actually hold.

That checklist works for $BTC.USDT, $ETH.USDT, $SOL.USDT, $XRP.USDT and $DOGE.USDT USDT-M perps. Only the funding print and the risk tier change by pair.

Common mistakes

  1. Using spot rates on a futures worksheet.
  2. Treating every limit as maker when a crossing limit pays taker.
  3. Skipping the close line after the July 2026 itemization change.
  4. Quoting a platform-wide max leverage that Bitbase does not publish.
  5. Mixing KYC talk into a fee post. Fee math does not need KYC limits, and those tables are not used here.

FAQ

Do open and close both charge? Yes. New positions show opening fee and closing fee as separate lines.

Does VIP change funding? No. VIP changes maker and taker trading rates.

How do I compare maker vs taker quickly? Same notional: maker path uses 0.0400% round trip at VIP 0; taker path uses 0.1200%.

What belongs in the image? The official futures fee table with the VIP 0 maker 0.0200% and taker 0.0600% row visible.

Open and close as separate lines

After the July 16, 2026 itemization change, a closed Bitbase futures position shows opening fee and closing fee as their own rows. That matches the math: each fill has its own notional and its own rate. When you estimate ahead of time, keep those two lines separate so a price move between open and close is visible in the close fee.

Building the estimate

  1. Confirm VIP 0 or your actual VIP row on the fee page.
  2. Choose maker or taker for the planned open.
  3. fee_open = notional_open x that rate.
  4. Choose maker or taker for the planned close.
  5. fee_close = notional_close x that rate.
  6. Add only the funding intervals you expect to hold.

Use decimal form if that is easier: 0.0200% is 0.0002, and 0.0600% is 0.0006. Same-notional maker / maker is then notional x 0.0004. Same-notional taker / taker is notional x 0.0012.

What this post does not claim

This walkthrough stays on fee math. It does not quote KYC limits, deposit limits, or a platform-wide max leverage. Official Bitbase materials set contract risk parameters per product, and the help center is the place for account-policy questions outside fees. Fee formulas do not need those numbers.

Spot base rates sit on their own schedule; keep them out of a USDT-M sheet. Futures VIP 0 stays at 0.0200% / 0.0600% until your VIP row moves.

Pair habits

$BTC.USDT, $ETH.USDT, $SOL.USDT, $XRP.USDT and $DOGE.USDT share the futures VIP fee ladder. Funding prints do not. Read the funding header on the pair you hold. Flat through settlement means that interval's funding line is zero for you, even when the rate itself is large.

If a new-listing promo shows a temporary 0% maker on a named pair, treat it as a pair override. Revert to the VIP table when the promo ends. The formulas stay the same; only the rate plug-in changes.
