BYDFi Spot DCA bot 2026: recurring spot buys, frequency, price range, fees, and a worked average-cost example

Key takeaway

Trying to buy the exact bottom is how many people end up buying nothing at all, or buying everything at the top. Dollar-cost averaging takes timing off the table: you buy a fixed amount on a fixed schedule, and the average price takes care of itself.

BYDFi's Spot DCA bot automates that routine on the spot market, with no leverage and no liquidation price. This guide covers how it works, how to set up a plan that fits your budget, what the numbers really mean, and where DCA can still hurt you.

What Spot DCA does

Spot DCA is a long-term accumulation tool. You choose a coin, an amount per purchase, a frequency, and optionally a price range. The bot then places a buy order on schedule every time the price sits inside your range. Each purchase is a normal spot buy, so you own the coins outright in your account. Most BYDFi spot pairs are supported, and the most liquid ones such as BTCUSDT, ETHUSDT, and XRPUSDT are the natural starting point.

The point is not to beat the market on any single day. The point is to buy more units when price is low and fewer when it is high, so your average cost lands below the simple average of the prices you paid.

A worked example

Say you invest 100 USDT in ETH once a week for four weeks, and the fill prices are 1,860, then 1,650, then 1,770, then 1,700.

  • Week 1 buys about 0.05376 ETH
  • Week 2 buys about 0.06061 ETH
  • Week 3 buys about 0.05650 ETH
  • Week 4 buys about 0.05882 ETH

You spent 400 USDT for roughly 0.22969 ETH, an average cost near 1,741 per ETH. Buying all 400 USDT in week one would have cost 1,860. The improvement comes from the cheap weeks buying more units. In a market that only goes up, a single lump sum on day one would have won; DCA trades some upside for a smoother entry and less regret.

Where to find it

From the Trading Bots menu, open Spot DCA. The page shows ready-made strategy cards, grouped into themes such as major tokens, highly appreciated coins, and meme tokens, each with its user count, one-year historical ROI, and token allocation. Below that, the DCA Plans list shows individual tokens, including a tokenized stock tab, with historical ROI over different look-back windows and a Create DCA Bot button on each row.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Fund your spot account with USDT. The bot buys from the selected balance; if it is short when a purchase is due, that purchase fails and the bot tries again at the next interval.
  2. Pick the asset. Start with liquid majors. A basket card spreads purchases across several coins if you prefer diversification.
  3. Set the amount per purchase. Choose a number you could keep investing for a year without stress.
  4. Choose the frequency. Daily, weekly, or monthly. Weekly is a common middle ground: enough data points to smooth volatility without tiny orders.
  5. Set a price range (optional). The bot only buys while price is inside your band. Useful if you refuse to buy above a level, but too tight a range means long gaps with no buys.
  6. Review and launch. Check the plan summary, then confirm. You can pause or stop the plan later.

You can run up to 50 Spot DCA plans at once, counting both your own plans and plans copied from others, and paused plans still count toward the limit.

Fees

Spot DCA adds no extra bot fee. Each scheduled purchase pays the standard spot taker fee. Very small, very frequent orders make fees a bigger share of each buy, which is another reason weekly often beats daily for small budgets.

Tips

  • Treat historical ROI on strategy cards as a backward look, not a forecast. A meme basket can show a big one-year number and still halve next quarter.
  • Pair DCA with a written exit plan, such as trimming a fixed percentage at set profit levels, so accumulation does not turn into holding forever by default.
  • Keep a buffer in the spot balance so purchases do not fail.
  • Separate DCA funds from trading funds so you are not tempted to raid the plan.
  • Review quarterly, not hourly.

Risks

  • DCA lowers timing risk, not market risk. If an asset trends down for years, you keep buying a falling asset.
  • Small-cap and meme coins can lose most of their value; keep them a small slice.
  • Price ranges can stop buys exactly when prices are most attractive if set too low or too narrow.
  • Exchange and custody risk still apply to coins held on any platform.

FAQ

Is Spot DCA leveraged? No. It buys spot coins with your balance, so there is no liquidation.

What happens if my balance runs out? That purchase fails and the bot retries at the next scheduled time.

Can I copy someone else's plan? Yes, copied plans count toward the 50-plan limit.

Which coins work best? Liquid pairs with long histories tend to suit DCA better than thin, speculative tokens.
