Two ETH longs, two different stops
how Bitunix Multi-Trade Mode keeps them apart (setup + math from today's tape)
Key takeaway
Most perp traders have hit this at least once. You hold an ETH long from earlier in the day, you add a second long later on a different idea, and the exchange merges them into one position with one average price and one stop. The early trade's tight risk and the late trade's wide risk get blended together.

Bitunix has a setting built for exactly this: Futures Multi-Trade Mode.
Side by side: normal vs Multi-Trade
Normal hedge mode: every new long on ETHUSDT merges into one long position. One entry average, one TP/SL, one liquidation price.
Multi-Trade Mode: you can hold several positions on the same pair in the same direction. Each one is independent, with its own margin, its own take profit and stop loss, and its own liquidation calculation. A move that kills one trade does not drag the others through a merged average.
Before you can switch it on
It is off by default. The requirements are:
- Your account must be in Single-Asset Mode with Hedge Mode enabled.
- No open positions and no open orders at the moment you toggle it.
- On the app you need version v0326 or later.
Path: on the Futures trading panel, open Margin Mode and toggle Multi-Trade Mode. It is not supported in Multi-Asset Mode, in One-way Mode or in Copy Trading accounts, and Add to Position is not available for these positions.
Worked example with Bitunix ETHUSDT data (Nov 4, about 3:57 PM ET)
The public feed showed ETHUSDT 24h open 2,290.99, high 2,449.92, low 2,225.01, last 2,416.07 and mark 2,416.17. To keep the math clean, both trades below are 1 ETH each.
Trade A: long 1 ETH at 2,290.99 (the 24h open), stop at 2,225.01 (the 24h low).
- Risk = 2,290.99 - 2,225.01 = 65.98 USDT, or 2.88% of entry.
Trade B: long 1 ETH at 2,416.17 (current mark), stop at 2,290.99 (back below the open).
- Risk = 2,416.17 - 2,290.99 = 125.18 USDT, or 5.18% of entry.
- Distance to the 24h high: 2,449.92 - 2,416.17 = 33.75 (1.40%).
Total planned risk with two separate stops: 65.98 + 125.18 = 191.16 USDT.
Now the merged version. Two 1 ETH longs average to 2,353.58 on one 2 ETH position. You get one stop, so you must pick:
- Stop at 2,290.99: the loss is 2 x 62.59 = 125.18 USDT, but trade A's whole idea (holding above the low) is thrown away on a dip that never hit A's real stop.
- Stop at 2,225.01: the loss is 2 x 128.57 = 257.14 USDT, which is 66 USDT more than the separate plan, and B now risks far more than intended.
Multi-Trade Mode is the only one of the three that matches the plan you actually had.
Same logic on other pairs
The same 24h-open-versus-low framing works on other pairs from the same feed. BTCUSDT: open 77,876.6, low 75,694.2, last 80,090.1. SOLUSDT: open 93.58, low 89.81, last 94.66. XRPUSDT: open 1.2795, low 1.2421, last 1.301. DOGEUSDT: open 0.07527, low 0.07225, last 0.07665. Each pair gives a different gap between "entered early" and "entered now", and that gap is what separate positions protect.
Common mistakes
- Trying to toggle with an order still resting. Cancel everything on futures first or the switch will not go through.
- Expecting it in One-way Mode. It needs Single-Asset plus Hedge Mode.
- Looking for Add to Position. In Multi-Trade, a new entry is a new position, not a top-up.
- Forgetting each position has its own liquidation price. Check each one, not just the first.
- Running it from a Copy Trading account. It is not supported there.
Quick FAQ
Q: Does each position need its own TP/SL? A: Yes. That is the point: each position carries its own TP/SL settings.
Q: Can I go back to normal hedge mode? A: The setting lives on the same Margin Mode toggle. Expect the empty-book condition to matter there too, and the panel will tell you if the switch is blocked.
Q: Is it useful for one-shot trades? A: Not really. It earns its place when you stack entries with different stop logic on one pair.
Pre-trade checklist: Single-Asset on, Hedge on, book empty, app updated, then decide each trade's stop before you open it.
